Portland personal trainer: Sore after a workout

If you are getting sore after a hard weight training workout, then you are not alone. Getting sore is something that happens to a lot of people who partake in physical fitness, weight lifting and just exercise. It is a term that we call in the personal training industry as DOMS, which stands for Delayed Onset Muscular Soreness.
This type of soreness can happen between 24 to 48 hours after your workout and can last a few days after that. Do not be discouraged about he pain and soreness that is associated with this type of feeling, but it is natural and it can be addicting by some fitness fanatics who relate it to having a great workout.
Remember, if it hurts during your workout, then you should probably stop. You need to know the difference between a pain that is caused by getting hurt (pulled muscle, sprain or a tear), versus the lactic acid build-up or burn you get when challenging your muscle.

Good Luck and Workout Safe!
