Working hard

Working Phase
Goal: Increase Edith and Sheri’s skills in communication to reduce feeling of inferiority and to move toward superiority.
I1: Using The Question to uncover how Edith and Sheri would like to communicate and ways they would like to discuss interactions.
12: Acting as if to encourage clients to act like the answer to the question was fulfilled and how they would behave if changes to the family dynamics were changed.
13: Using homework, I would ask that Edith and Sheri have a family meeting together to practice their communication skills.

Goal: Help Edith and Sheri change self defeating behavior to solve problems more efficiently.
I1: Using Spitting in the client’s soup technique, I would make what Edith and Sheri say is even less attractive. For example, I would say if Roberto were out of your life Edith, Sheri would experience feeling of abandonment and loss of her father and she may turn to dangerous ways to cope. This would help Edith see the importance of Roberto being in her life.
12: Catching oneself technique would help Edith and Sheri pay attention to the behavior that needs changing. Especially, I would discuss with Edith her behavior when Roberto is around, before a meeting, and after a meeting to see how she reacts.
I3: Using the push button technique, Edith and Sheri will try to imagine pleasant memories with the family more than unpleasant ones.

Goal: Increase client’s social interests to promote client’s growth in social dynamics.
I1: Encouragement to enhance Edith’s interest in teaching and Sheri’s interest in politics and law.

Closing Phase:
Changes are more solidified and Th starts disengaging from family.

Goal: Assess client’s satisfaction with therapy to allow Edith and Sheri to maintain changes in relational dynamics
I1: Using client’s awareness, Edith and Sheri will now commit to making the changes made in therapy a part of the lifestyle.

Ego Psychology
Edith and Sheri are Clients

Initial Phase
Initial meeting consists of the therapeutic relationship and working toward setting goals, managing crises, and making necessary referrals.

Goal: Increase Edith and Sheri’s recognition of their defense mechanisms to reduce isolation and increase ego control
I1: Explore how Edith and Sheri’s ego functions. Ex: how they think of themselves, and if they have high or low ego control; can they make self feel better?)
I2: Assess how client’s deal with present day problems. How Edith and Sheri cope now verses in childhood.
